Academic Institution

Try collaboration in the 21st Century.   See what eMAM can do for you.

The modern academic institution has long left the chalkboard and erasers for high tech, interactive, and connected learning experiences. Huge quantities of rich media (videos, slide shows, document, etc ) are difficult to manage, store, and send to a dispersed learning community. eMAM is a digital asset management system that can provide real solutions to academia.

The eMAM system can take small, portable proxy copies of all types of content. Any internet connection will provide users with access to the online library for previewing, interacting, and managing content. Proxy copies transmit quickly, fostering cooperation, while minimizing storage and transmission costs.

eMAM controls both the actions of users and what content they see in the system. eMAM can dynamically assign users to groups, with defined roles. Permissions can be set for each activity for user groups or for individual users. eMAM can integrate with LDAP or other systems to tie current institutional policies to roles in the eMAM system.

The interface is as easy to use as online shopping, which increases user acceptance and minimizes support and training costs. All workflow and media management actions are handled by the system using the same interface. Content can be repurposed with a drag and drop to any number of locations or platforms.

Studio

From campus TV to the teaching lab, eMAM can help make, produce, and distribute content, especially video. eMAM offers extensive support for proxy based based workflows and can manage the native/high resolution content.

eMAM provides an online digital library of all historical content in addition to current classwork, programs, and other communications. eMAM powers marking, logging, tagging, organization, review and approval, link sharing, and social media for authorized users all using light weight proxy copies from the web or tablet interfaces.

eMAM manages the native resolution content in the local or shared storage for collaborative video editing and digital delivery with transcoding. eMAM can provide proxy management for an active archive, allowing institutions to store most of the native resolution content cheaply and permanently in an LTO or ODA archive system. eMAM can trigger partial or complete restores whenever the original content is needed for editing or broadcast.

No need to push content to the cloud or centralized storage when eMAM can manage from any storage. Feeder is a local ingest system from any Mac, Linux, or PC desktop. Users can drag and drop or scan folders. They can choose appropriate categories, projects, metadata tags, and storage location. The Feeder preserves the complex folder structure of the source storage, which is key for editing and processing many camera formats. Feeder will restart the ingest process if it loses a connection. It can also use file acceleration for faster transfer times.

eMAM manages the generation of proxy copies for sharing and web based collaboration. Using different transcoding systems, eMAM can support almost any format or codec from DNX HD to DPX. This can be done locally through Adobe Premiere, through open source transcoding systems, or almost any system though a command line interface. If the camera or ingest system makes a H264 MP4 for video, then eMAM can use that. eMAM can manage Telestream Vantage, Harmonic ProMedia Carbon, or Harmonic WFS for server based transcoding.

Metadata is key for driving search. The camera metadata comes in automatically. External metadata can come at ingest through XML or can be entered in the Feeder. After ingest, users can also enter metadata through the eMAM web or tablet interfaces. eMAM can collect metadata fields into groups, which can then be organized into sets. This allows the appropriate metadata fields are associated with the correct user groups and the correct type of assets.

eMAM gives remote and non-technical staff access to the edit station, managing the media and the workflow. eMAM users can search clips, mark, annotate, subclip, and create story boards/sequences. FCP XML can be used to link to FCP 7 editors. Media Composer can be linked with AAF workflows from Telestream Vantage or through Marquis Project Parking/Medway/Sequence Parking, XMF Server, or Strawberry. eMAM features extensive support for Adobe Premiere Pro editors for multiple workflows through a built-in extension panel for support before, during, and after the editing process.

After editing, eMAM can be used to share links for review and approval, social media, and branded email marketing. eMAM manages the native resolution content, so it can set up complex automated workflows using Telestream Vantage, digital delivery to broadcast servers, publishing to OVP,OTT,VOD, or other platforms, streaming from the website or a custom portal, or delivery to any other location with transcoding as needed to any location with FTP or file acceleration UDP systems.

Security settings restrict user access to particular (sub) categories of assets based on their user group/role settings. Groups can be setup in eMAM, through active directory/LDAP, or through registration lists.

Alumni Relations

eMAM can bring back the good old days of campus life to the alumni community through social media and mixed media emails, with text, images, audio, and video all in one email.

The archives can come alive when all content can be viewed and shared online. A portal could be open to the public, to only paid subscribers, or only to certified users. Whether built by campus IT or by Empress IT, Some or all of the features of the eMAM system can be accessible online: upload, organize, mark, comment, subclip, storyboard, share links, social media, and digital delivery. The standard interfaces are easy to use, or a custom portal can be developed by campus IT or by Empress IT.

Whether original content comes from the community or from the campus, eMAM provides powerful integrated workflows options to automate and simplify processes.

Archive

Your mission is to ensure important content is digitized and preserved, while still being accessible.

eMAM Feeder is a local ingest system from any Mac, Linux, or PC desktop Users can drag and drop or scan folders, organize into (sub) categories and projects, tag with comments and metadata, and choose a storage location: keep in the source location, copy it, or move it to centralized storage. The Feeder preserves the complex folder structure of the source storage, which is key for editing and processing many camera formats. Feeder will restart the ingest process if it loses a connection. It can also use UDP file acceleration for faster transfer times.

eMAM manages the generation of proxy copies for sharing and web based collaboration. This can be done locally through Adobe Premiere, through open source transcoding systems, or almost any system though a command line interface. The H264 MP4 proxy for video sharing and collaboration could also be generated directly by many cameras. eMAM can also manage Telestream Vantage, Harmonic ProMedia Carbon, or Harmonic WFS for server based transcoding.

Metadata is the key for search. Camera metadata comes in automatically. External metadata can come at ingest through XML or can be entered in the Feeder. After ingest, users can also enter metadata through the eMAM web or tablet interfaces. eMAM can collect metadata fields into groups, which can then be organized into sets. This allows the appropriate metadata fields are associated with the correct user groups and the correct assets.

Digitization preserves the important content for the organization. It can turn a liability into a viable asset that can be monetized or retasked. eMAM allows multiple ingest options to streamline the process. Metadata tags and labels can be entered separately, at ingest, or after ingest. Users can QC or provide feedback about the digitization during the process. eMAM can manage the content in almost any storage system on premise or in the cloud. It can also directly manage most of the common archive systems to store the content in an LTO or ODA library, which gives a powerful solution for permanent storage at a fraction of the cost. With the eMAM system keeping proxy copies and metadata, users can easily access and share the archived content, so there is a permanent digital library for all of the content at a fraction of the cost.

Librarian/Archivist

Your mission is to ensure important content is organized, indexed, and readily available. This now means digitization of historical assets and preservation of these assets in a long term archive system.

eMAM has options for sharing links or proxy copies by email, social media, or by download. Because eMAM also manages the native resolution content, it can deliver on demand with transcoding in almost any format to any system or location.

eMAM can define permissions for user groups to enforce rights management. This can include restrictions on delivery, download, forwarding, and time educator.

Students can access and download classroom materials, lecture notes, diagrams, power points, and lecture videos. They can share comments and ratings. With permission, then can make markers, annotations, subclip, and make storyboards for videos. They can upload content from any Windows, Mac, or Linux desktop.

The eMAM can also provide online access to all historical materials. Students could use authorized materials to perform research or put materials together for a project. Faculty or external researchers could also use the materials for their research or to develop presentations and teaching materials.
